Barcelona has sensationally claimed Liverpool were prepared to sanction the sale of Philippe Coutinho – but only for a massive £185million (€200m).
The Reds had maintained that the Brazilian was not for sale at any price but the Blaugrana’s director of professional sports Albert Soler has announced they received an ultimatum on deadline day.
Despite receiving funds of £200m from Neymar’s sale to Paris Saint-Germain, Soler insists they were not prepared to put the club at risk by indulging a crazy transfer market.
He said: “Liverpool wanted €200m for Coutinho. The club decided not to continue with the operation. We will not put Barça at risk.”
